PROFILE
Nouria Newman is a young French kayaker who practices slalom and extreme kayaking.
An inexhaustible athlete, she is internationally known for her expeditions on hostile and natural rivers. In 2014, she was the first woman to descend the Grand Canyon of the Stikine River, whose rapids are among the most difficult and dangerous in the world. Intrepid and eager for new experiences, in 2018 she ventured into the Himalayas for a 375km solo descent of the Tsarap and Zanskar rivers. In 2019, during her trip to Patagonia with renowned kayakers Ben Stookesberry and Eric Boomer, she achieved several world first descents! At the beginning of 2021, Nouria went to Ecuador to scout for an expedition. She passed a 31-metre waterfall, the Don Wilo waterfall, thus breaking the women's world record.
Committed, she participates in 2013 and 2019 in development actions to teach children to kayak in Morocco, Argentina and Iran.
Nouria also holds a Master's degree in journalism from Sciences Po Toulouse, a unique athlete, committed, very humble and always ready to take on the craziest challenges.
