High-speed time zone adjustment
To enhance the speed and quality of the GPS connection, every component in the GPS module has been re-engineered.Thanks to the use of three independent motors for the hour, minute and seconds hands, Caliber 3X/5X can change from one time zone to another in as quickly as three seconds.
Automatic synchronization to the exact time every day
Your Astron 3X/5X watch adjusts automatically to the exact time every day.If it detects sunlight, it will connect with one or more GPS satellites and re-set the time. Even if the watch cannot detect sunlight or fails on the first attempt, it remembers the time of the previous successful manual time adjustment (or time zone adjustment) and automatically attempts to receive a signal.
Compatible with Quasi-Zenith Satellite “MICHIBIKI”
The MICHIBIKI satellite system, also known as the Quasi-Zenith Satellite System*, is designed to stay almost directly above Japan for an extended period of time. It has been operating as a four-satellite constellation since November 2018, further increasing the success rate of reception in Japan.*The Quasi-Zenith Satellite System (QZSS) is a Japanese satellite positioning system that covers the Asia-Oceania region and is composed mainly of satellites in quasi-zenith orbits (QZO).
The “time transfer function” allows you to switch the display of home and destination times, simply and instantly, between the main dial and the sub-dial.
Just press the buttons at two and four o’clock simultaneously and Caliber 5X converts the main dial display from, for example, home time to local time. The sub-dial changes from local to home time at the same time.The Time Transfer function is available in the 5X series.
All this functionality, using just the power of light.
The miracle of Astron GPS Solar is that it offers all these functions and yet requires no battery change; it draws all the power it needs from light alone. When fully charged, the watch will continue to run for about six months and, if it detects that there is no light for 72 hours, it will go into ‘sleep’ mode. When this happens, the hands will stop moving and the watch will not try to connect to the GPS network, thus reducing the energy consumption and making it possible for all the time-of-day information to be maintained for up to two years. When you want to wake the watch up again, just expose it to light for more than five seconds or press a button and the hands will return instantly to the current time and the watch will operate normally again.
