Experience the World of Seiko Prospex

  • 1965

    Japan’s First Diver’s 150m

Japan’s first diver’s was a self-winding 150m watch. The launch of this watch was an outset of Seiko’s pursuit of reliability and safety for all future diver’s watches. In 1966, the watch proved its reliability and capability in the 8th Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition.

  • 1968

    Hi-beat Diver’s 300m

Japan’s first Hi-beat Diver’s 300m was launched only 3 years after Japan’s first diver’s watch. Adding a manual-winding mechanism to a 10-beat high precision automatic caliber realizes more reliability. This one-piece structure without case back deepend water resistance to 300m and even prevents an entry of helium gas.

  • 1970

    Much Respected Diver’s

This 150m water resistant diver’s watch was worn by Japanese adventurer, Naomi Uemura, on his record breaking journeys from Greenland to Alaska and on his solo expeditions to the North Pole. The uniqueness of the design stemmed from the way that the crown, at the 4 o’clock position, was protected by the extension of the case around it.

  • 1975

World’s First Professional Diver’s 600m with Titanium Case

The world’s first Professional Diver’s 600m with titanium case has over 20 unique features just on the exterior. It has a characteristic two-layer case construction to achieve world-class security against shock and corrosion. The new accordion-style strap ensured ease of use by expanding and contracting as the divers' depth changed.

  • 1,062m

Demonstrating our credibility through a deep sea experiment

In 1983, 600m diver’s watches for saturation diving were mounted on the research submarine SHINKAI 2000 of JAMSTEC (the Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology). They were taken to a depth of 1,062 meters, far deeper than their specified maximum, yet performed flawlessly in regards to their water and pressure resistance, precision, usability, and appearance. • 4,299m

Pushing the boundaries with a deep sea experiment

In 2014, 1000m diver’s watches for saturation diving took a journey onboard the deep-sea submersible KAIKO 7000II. The quartz model made it to 3,284 meters, and the mechanical model continued operation to an impressive 4,299 meters — over four times the guaranteed water-resistance! This is proof of Seiko’s continued reliability and innovation. Courtesy: JAMSTEC

  • 2018/2019

Two wins in a row at the "Academy Awards" of the watch world

In 2018, the 1968 Automatic Diver's Re-creation design won the Sports Watch Prize in Grand Prix d’ Horlogerie de Genève. The Grand Prix is so influential that it is considered the Academy Awards of the watch world. In 2019, the SNR029J1 of the LX Line won the Diver's Watch Prize, marking the second year in a row of prize wins. The world is recognizing our reliable performance.

  • Turtle

Nicknames given by our fans around the world

Since its release in 1965, Seiko diver's watches have been loved by fans and received many nicknames. Turtle, Samurai and Tuna-can are just some. These nicknames, based on the watch's bold silhouette and detailing, are still familiar to the many contemporary Seiko diver's watch fans of the world. They don't just love the excellent functionality but also appreciate the physical design.
