A century has passed, since the first wristwatch bearing the SEIKO name was released in 1924. Now, as we celebrate the 100th anniversary of our brand, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to all those who have supported and cherished Seiko watches throughout the years. As I reflect on our long journey, I must admit that we faced many severe challenges along the way, but we always met these challenges head-on and we grew as a result.

Our founder, Kintaro Hattori, was driven by a strong belief that the era of wristwatches was inevitable, and so he pioneered the creation of Japan's first wristwatch. Rising to the challenge, he led his company to begin a series of innovations that continues even now. In fact, as a result of developing innovative solutions to respond to so many technological challenges, Seiko literally changed the business forever when we created the world’s first quartz wristwatch. Moreover, we went on to pioneer many other first-ever innovations such as Spring Drive and GPS Solar watches. No matter which model, each Seiko watch is still crafted with passion and world-class technology.
