The birth of King Seiko
and its long-awaited revival
In 1961, the Daini Seikosha Factory, based in Kameido, Tokyo, introduced King Seiko, a watch of advanced design and functionality that was sold at a reasonable price. King Seiko was a pioneer in the evolution of mechanical watches in Japan.
The second-generation King Seiko KSK model, released in 1965, was particularly notable for introducing new features such as water resistance and a hacking seconds while also heralding the distinctive styling approach of King Seiko, with features such as an ingenious dial layout with no wasted space and sharper styling of the watch case with accentuated edges and a box-shaped glass.
The 1970s saw the ambitious King Seiko project temporarily shuttered. But then, nearly 50 years later, King Seiko was revived.
In 2022, King Seiko was relaunched, combining an enduring brand legacy with the latest technology while preserving the distinctive design elegance of the original. Today, King Seiko remains a faithful and accurate timepiece that transcends changing fashions and trends—the quintessential expression of time itself.
